Student Examination


Information documents must be informed to the program coordinator via nanosci_tech@chula.ac.th

Students must be informed to the program coordinator;

  • at least 4 weeks before the proposal examination date

  • at least 6 weeks before the thesis examination date

The Proposal Examination

Students must inform to the program coordinator at least 4 weeks before the exam date.

Submit by completion of 2 documents, which are ‘Request for proposal examination form’ and ‘Information document of the external committee’

1. Request for proposal examination form
(if online exam, meeting link and screenshot while taking the exam will be informed to the program coordinator)

2. Information document of the external committee and co-advisor (if applicable), *Each committee has 2 documents: A) Form CV of the committee and B) Form CV Personal information

*If the co-advisor or any of the committee members are not under the Nanosci program, students must submit the same documents (CV & additional forms) as the external committees.

(Program coordinator will prepare an invitation letter for committees, and give it to you to send to the committees)

>> The proposal must be finished prior to the exam date in about 1 weeks by completion of 2 documents, which are the ‘F36 form’ and the proposal.

Students must be;

  • Distribute proposal (unlimited page, typically about 6-10 pages) and invitation letters to all committees (and meeting link for the online exam)

  • Submit “F36” to the program coordinator (students must fill out all information in F36, with the student and advisor’s signature).

After the proposal examination

The students who pass the proposal examination, must; Resubmit documents to the program coordinator. The following documents are required:

  • F36 with student and advisor’s signature (If there is no correction, resubmit the first version)
  • Proposal (Revise the proposal according to their committees’ comments and resubmit to their advisor for approval)
  • Screenshot while taking the exam

* and inform emails of all committees to the program coordinator.

The Thesis Defense Examination

Students must inform to the program coordinator at least 6 weeks before the exam date.

Submit to nanosci_tech@chula.ac.th by completing 2 documents, which are

  1. Request for thesis DEFENSE Form (and ‘TH- form request invitation letter’ for TH students)
  2. Resubmit; the information of the external committee and co-advisor (if applicable), *Each committee has 2 documents: 1) Form CV of the committee and 2) Form ADDITIONAL for expertise

(Nanosci program will prepare an invitation letter for examination committees, and give it to you to send to the committees)

>> The thesis must be finished prior to the defense date and informed to all committees about 4 weeks before the examination date.

  • Students must be:

    Distribute 1. Thesis, 2. invitation letters, and 3. the thesis evaluation form to all committees. (and meeting link for the online exam)

After thesis defense

The students who pass the thesis defense, must;

  1. Revise the thesis according to their committees’ comments and resubmit to their advisor and all committees for approval. 
  2. Submit documents to the program coordinator. Students must submit all documents to the program coordinator at least 7 days before the deadline announced by the Graduate school. (Please see “Last date of submission: complete thesis to Grad CU” )

The following documents are required (as soon as possible);

  • 2.1 Thesis (The revised version that generates from iThesis system with an advisor and all committees’ signatures)
  • 2.2 Thesis approval page with the committee’s and advisor’s signatures, but blank dean’s signature (students can separate only this page from your thesis that is generated from the iThesis system). *After getting this document from students, the program coordinator will request the dean’s signature and send this page with a dean’s signature back to students for submission of the complete thesis to the GradCU, see “The Complete Thesis/Dissertation Submission”.
  • 2.3 Thesis examination report with the advisor and all committees’ signatures. (The Chairman will finalize the exam result of the thesis and send the report to the program coordinator.)
  • 2.4 Thesis plagiarism report with student and advisor’s signatures. (Students submit the final thesis file to the Program in order to be verified for plagiarism prevention via 1. Turnitin and 2. Akarawisut Program which will result in scores. The thesis advisor must sign for acknowledgment.) See Turnitin manual: Turnitin Manual for students
  • 2.5 Document for submission from the iThesis system with a thesis/dissertation advisor and student’s signatures.
  • 2.6 Screenshot while taking the exam

3. Fill out the information at https://ithesis.grad.chula.ac.th/ for complete thesis approval. (see guideline)

The Complete Thesis/Dissertation Submission (directly to the GradCU)

After passing thesis defense, students must prepare document files for submit complete thesis directly to Graduate school via email thesis62.submission@gmail.com within Last date of submission: complete thesis to Grad CU

The following documents are required;

  • [A] Document for submission

The document is able to be downloaded from the iThesis system (after the advisor “approved complete thesis/dissertation”) with a thesis/dissertation advisor and student’s signatures.

  • [B] Thesis/dissertation approval page with a thesis/dissertation committee and faculty’s dean signatures (program coordinator will give this document to you after getting faculty’s dean signatures, detail in above*)
  • [C] Abstract in Thai and English with a thesis/dissertation supervisor and student’s signatures.
*After the students pass the thesis defense exam: students must send the thesis approval page with all committee's signatures (document no. 2.2) to the NanoSci program , the program coordinator will process to get the dean's signature and send "document B" back to students (need the time for this process), next, students can submit the complete thesis to the Graduate school within the deadline. Therefore, students should pass the thesis defense before the last date for submission complete thesis to Graduate School at least 1 week.

Examination committee (please consult your advisor or the director of program)

The students must contact the committee and make an appointment for the exam date by themselves.

The proposal and thesis examination committee must include the following members: 

*The external committee must have at least 5 academic publications in thesis-related fields.

Master students ;

  1. Advisor
  2. Chairman: the director of the program or faculty member appointed by the director
  3. External committee to be nominated by the advisor
  4. Co-advisor (if applicable)

Ph.D. students ;

  1. Advisor
  2. The external committee is the “Chairman” to be nominated by the advisor
  3. Committee (faculty member of NanoSci program to be nominated by advisor)
  4. Committee **(faculty member of NanoSci program to be appointed by the program)
  5. Committee (faculty member of NanoSci program or external committee to be nominated by advisor)
  6. Co-advisor (if applicable)

M.S. Students;

* If not want to choose the Director of program, M.S. students can blank the committee no.2 and offer the name to consult with the Director of program.

Ph.D. Students;

** Ph.D. students must blank the committee no.4 

Graduation

Graduation flowchart

For graduation, students who will graduate this semester must submit additional documents to the NanoSci program.

The following documents are required;

  • STUDENT GRADE REPORT (CR60) that can get from reg.chula in the student grade report menu (select “Print all grade report” to get .pdf file), please submit the student grade report (CR60) in a .pdf file to the program coordinator
  • English score report
  • Student’s academic publications
*The Graduate School needs time for the graduation process.

The Graduate School will announce the names of the graduates after reviewing all documents. However, the Graduate School will send the name to the office of the registrar. Therefore, students have to wait for the official announcement from the office of the registrar at “Graduate Information Inquiry

After graduate information was announced by the office of the registrar, students can apply for certificates by themselves at https://www.reg.chula.ac.th/eindex.html -> Student -> Application for Certificates
